Washington State Moves to Destination-Based Tax

GotSST.com was created by Digtuck Software and Crater Lake Software to provide easy, automated solutions for calculating destination-based taxes. Our initial product suite was created to address a need specifc to small businesses in the State of Washington.

As of July 1st 2008, Washington State will move from an origin-based system for local retail sales tax to a destination-based system (also known as "streamlined sales tax"). For more information about the change, please go to the Washington Department of Revenue (DOR) website.

The DOR website contains valuable information about the change taking place in Washington. There you'll find information about the new tax laws, DOR workshops in your area, and tools created by the Department to help businesses comply with the new tax system.

While the DOR offers several tools that can be used to help you manually calculate the correct tax and tax code, there are currently no tools provided by the Department that offer a fully automated solution that plugs directly into your existing accounting software. GotSST.com offers software solutions that are completely integrated into Intuit QuickBooks and Microsoft Small Business Accounting -- and interfaces to more applications are coming soon! In addition to the integrated applications, a stand-alone Microsoft Windows solution is also available.
